National Tutoring Association (NTA) Certified Tutor
Welcome! I am a National Tutoring Association (NTA) certified professional advanced level tutor, and a Purdue University graduate, with a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Information Systems. I am 1 out of only 3 NTA advanced level certified tutors in the state of Illinois. I have over 10 years of tutoring experience.
Since 2015, I have been a volunteer tutor at Waukegan to College, a non-profit organization in Waukegan, IL, that helps first-generation students with the process of getting into and through college. I tutor 5th to 12th grade students one-on-one, and work with them on mathematics (elementary school math to Calculus II), reading and writing.
I began working as a private tutor in April 2022, and I founded my own tutoring business in January 2024.
To date, I have tutored over 250 students from over 40 US states and Canadian provinces and over 20 colleges and universities on a one-on-one basis, both in-person and online. I tutor 3rd grade to college level students, including individuals with mental and learning disorders, in mathematics (all the way up to Calculus II), the SAT (all subjects), and ACT (all subjects), reading and writing.
When I tutor, I always make sure that I’m engaging, patient, effectively communicating, and actively listening to my students. It is important to understand where the student resides in terms of their learning preference and style. From there, I take inventory of what a student needs to build a strong foundation and improve and maximize their skillset to perform at a high level. This includes soft skills such as problem solving, time management, collaboration, and communication. After performing these steps, I devise a plan based on agreed upon goals and outcomes that the student/parent and I have discussed to make sure the student is well-positioned for success!
I am deeply committed and passionate about working with students to ensure that they are receiving one-on-one instruction that is personalized to their needs, and to empower them to achieve their dreams!
